A Spanish Organic Food Company Built at Origin, Not at a Desk

We Are Bio exports certified organic food from Spain to wholesale buyers, distributors and HoReCa importers across Europe, the United Kingdom and Asia. The company operates from two offices — Boadilla del Monte in Madrid and London N14 — working directly with farming families in Andalusia, Extremadura and the Levante. Six product categories, more than twenty producer partnerships, and a supply chain built on traceability rather than volume.

Company story

Closing the gap between small producers and international buyers

We Are Bio was founded on a straightforward premise: the best organic food in Spain rarely reaches international buyers because the supply chain between small producers and foreign markets is broken. Trading companies blend across origins. Brokers add cost without adding knowledge. Retailers receive products they cannot trace beyond a warehouse code. The company was built to close that gap — sourcing at the farm, managing quality at every stage, and delivering products that carry a verifiable story from field to shelf.

The model started with a single extra virgin olive oil from Jaen — one grove, one producer, one product tested against export-grade standards. Growth came by applying the same selection logic across categories: avocado oil from subtropical groves near Malaga, organic preserves from fruit orchards in Extremadura, artichokes and olives from the Levantine coast. Each new product entered the range only after we had visited the farm, audited the facility, and confirmed that quality could hold across multiple harvests. Today the company supplies buyers in more than ten countries, but the method has not changed. We still start every new relationship at the source.

Philosophy

Three principles that guide every quality decision

Quality decisions at We Are Bio follow three principles. Origin over convenience: we source from specific farms in specific regions because terroir determines flavour, and consistency depends on knowing the land. Restraint over formulation: our oils are mechanically pressed, our preserves contain no refined sugar, and nothing in the range includes artificial additives — not because of a trend, but because the raw materials do not need them. Transparency over marketing: we publish certificate numbers, name our producers, and provide lab results on request. A buyer should never have to take our word for anything when documentation exists to prove it.

Producer relationships

How we work with producers

Every supplier relationship begins the same way — a visit to the farm, a conversation about methods, and an agreement on what quality means for each product. We work with more than twenty farming families, most of them multi-generational operations who have been growing organically for longer than any certification has existed. Our team inspects facilities, reviews harvest schedules, and monitors seasonal conditions. When a crop underperforms, we adjust volumes rather than lower standards. This is not romantic sourcing theatre; it is supply chain management built on personal accountability and repeated verification over many seasons.

Sourcing approach

Single-origin products from three Spanish regions

We source single-origin products from three Spanish regions, and we do not blend across borders. Our olive oil is Picual from Andalusia. Our avocado oil comes from Axarquia groves in Malaga province. Preserves and sauces are made from fruit and vegetables grown in Extremadura and the Levante. Single-origin sourcing gives wholesale buyers something blended commodity products cannot: a consistent flavour profile, a traceable supply chain, and a quality story that holds up under scrutiny from retailer compliance teams.

Values

What we stand for

Traceability as standard

Every product carries a lot number that traces back to a named producer, a specific harvest, and a verified facility.

Restraint in formulation

We add nothing that does not belong — no refined sugar, no artificial preservatives, no chemical refinement, no palm oil.

Direct accountability

We buy from producers we have visited, not from commodity markets or anonymous brokers.

Documented quality

Lab analyses, certificates of origin, and organic documentation are available for every batch — not as a courtesy, but as a condition of how we operate.

Consistency over scale

We grow the range by adding the right producers, not by accepting higher volumes from the wrong ones.
